I could drop my regular phone costs by $10 per month plus I wouldn't have to pay for long distance. That varied but still worth the switch.

So I switched. That was back in Feb 2005.

After 3 months trying to get my phone number ported I canceled the account and opened another. You may wonder why I did that... I'll tell you. Vonage lets you setup an account online without any HUMAN assistance. That was the route I took first. Since it was a complete failure when it comes to having my number ported I chose to close it and then open a new one using a real "sort-of" human in inside Sales.

Her name is Rita Wilson at extension 10429. Her team lead is Stepheni at 732-226-2912.

So here we go with the story of how after 7 months I still don't have my phone ported.

5/6/05 - contacted Rita to setup the account. I explained the problem with my old account to Rita, she assured me that this time would be different and she would call if there were any problems.

5/11/05 - no contact from Rita but my number was still not ported and there was no order at Bell South to port it. Called Rita and left a message.

5/12/05 - Rita did not return my call.

5/13/05 - No return call yet so I'm calling. Found Stepheni was Rita's team lead so I left a message for her. She returned my call and transfered me to David Tobin who again assured me that this would get taken care of.

5/23/05 - Still not ported. Still have two phone lines ringing and no voice mail. I turned everything off at Bell South so there would not be any issues with porting. So far that hasn't helped.

5/24/05 - Called Stepheni. She will have Rital return my call. She will also have David call me on 6/1.

6/2/05 - No returned call so I called Stepheni again. She will get to David and ask him to call. David calls and initiates another port request. He will call me when he has the port date.

6/14/05 - No call from David so I called Stepheni. She transfers me to Rita who tells me that I now have a port date of 6/29. That's two months to get the line ported. Geez!

7/1/05 - Line is not ported. Called Bell South and they don't have an order pending for the port. Called Vonage and spoke to Ypes. He contacts a Jeff Rapenport in LNP and creates and excalation ticket #2086827. Says I should get and email or a call back.

7/9/05 - No email, no call back. I go into my account online and find that now my Voicemail is down. I can't even create a voice mailbox. I called to report the VM problem and wait for 25 minutes. I now have a ticket for VM #2252470. The rep says it should be corrected in 4 hours but to call back in 12 if it's not fixed. GREAT!
